A CHARLESTON WELCOME

With Charleston being a popular destination for weddings, we often find our couples and their guests being visitors in our beloved city. When planning all of the little details for the wedding weekend, we are frequently asked for welcome bag item ideas. When your guests arrive, it is a wonderful way to start their stay when they are greeted with a bag full of Charleston's finest surcies along with necessary items to survive the fun festivities ahead! We have curated a list of of our favorite welcome bag items, some unique to Charleston and some a necessity!

All of your guests know that they are in town for your wedding, but do they know details about your welcome party, transportation, farewell brunch, or your favorite places to eat in Charleston? Your welcome bag is a great place to put any details you feel your guests need to know. These can be created on minted or by your local stationery place!

Benne wafers are unique to the Lowcountry dating all the way back to colonial times, and The Olde Colony Bakery has been making them for over 70 years. Sweet and salty wafer cookies are a great way to give guests a taste of Charleston!

These thick, skin-on potato chips are produced right in Charleston. Lowcountry Kettle has four original flavors such as Spicy Pimento Cheese, Mustard BBQ Sauce, Bloody Mary, and State Fair Fried Pickle. Potato chips are a great comfort food for all to enjoy!

Holy City Popcorn has very creative flavors, each dedicated to the history and sites that Charleston has to offer. Both sweet and salty, there is no flavor you can’t love. We can all say we have been in the position when we are in our hotel room 110% dehydrated and need to quench our thirst ASAP; but don't want to give in and drink the bottle of water your hotel room will charge you an arm and a leg for. Putting two bottles of water in each of your welcome bags is one of the nicest things you can do for your guests. Everyone gets thirsty, and sometimes we just don't want to drink the tap water!

Your thoughtful touches won't go unnoticed! Welcome bags are a way of going the extra mile to make your guests feel welcome and right at home in Charleston. There are so many different items to put in your bags, these are just a few favorites on the list! Your planner can also take care of purchasing all of the chosen items and assembly of bags, after all it is no secret the planning process takes a village!

Cheers,
