It isn't often that we get to work with couples that are Charleston natives, so we definitely get a little excited when that opportunity arises! Shannon had the pleasure of working Kingslea and Preston to design and execute their wedding that hit close to home, quite literally. Shannon had the kindest remarks when looking back on working with these two Charlestonians.
"Bride Kingslea was a dream for me. When a planner thinks about the ideal design client a sweet lady just like Kingslea is what comes to mind. She had the best inspiration to present at our first meeting - just enough for us to run with a subtle “Gatsby” theme without having too many specifics to incorporate."
"Honestly, her dress alone could have been enough inspiration for me. This Jenny Packham beauty is what set the Gatsby dream into motion. The dress combined with the image of a colorful tile Kingslea discovered throughout her engagement drove the design home. As you can tell from the photos, the gown dripped in old world glam where the tile inspiration allowed us to bring soft pops of color in as accents."
"We kept the basics simple with white linens and mahogany ballroom chivaris but let the accent furniture do all of the talking. Have you seen that lounge? Art deco dreams are made of this. The soft but dusty pink hue of the couch combined with the perfect lines of the acrylic arm chairs and gold starburst side tables were exactly the combination needed to ground the fireplace mantle as a main focal point in the room."
"What could top that? THOSE LINENS. The ballroom’s cocktail tables were draped in what can only be described as the perfect Great Gatsby inspired linen from Nuage Designs. If you are planning an event with a similar theme, I will save you the trouble and tell you that you MUST incorporate the Silver Lapidus linen into your design scheme."
"All of this goodness topped off with the organic blooms designed by Stephanie Gibbs Events. Her asymmetrical mantle install was the icing on top of the figurative cake (did I mention that ABCD Cakes designed a cake to mimic the gown’s design?!)"
